  4. Is my route data logged automatically, and how is it used?

    • Yes, your route data is logged automatically. This data is used to inform infrastructure development and analysis to improve cycling conditions.

  5. Can I disable route logging in the app?

    • Currently, route logging is automatic and integral to providing insights, but future updates may include options to disable this feature.

  6. What should I do if the app crashes while I’m using it?

    • If the app crashes, restart it and log in again. If issues persist, contact LockStop support.

Using the LockStop Device

  1. How do I unlock the LockStop device at my destination?

    • Unlock the LockStop device by scanning the QR code on the device using the app.

  2. What happens if the LockStop device doesn’t wake up when I approach it?

    • Ensure you’re within range and wait for the device to detect motion and flash orange. If it still doesn’t wake up, try scanning the QR code again or contact support.

  3. How do I scan the QR code on the LockStop device?

    • Open the camera feature in the LockStop app, select the “Scan QR code” button, and align the QR code within the square frame on your screen.

  4. What do I do if the QR code isn’t being recognized by the app?

    • Ensure the QR code is properly aligned in the frame, and that there is good lighting. If the issue persists, restart the app and try again.

  5. How much time do I have to secure my bike after scanning the QR code?

    • You have 20 seconds to secure your bike after the LockStop logo flashes yellow.

  6. What happens if I don’t lock my bike within the allotted time?

    • If you don’t secure your bike within 20 seconds, the device will flash red, and you will need to repeat the scanning process.

  7. How secure is the data transmission between my phone and the LockStop device?

    • Data transmission between your phone and the LockStop device is protected using BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) encryption.

  8. How is my data protected when it’s transmitted to the cloud?

    • All user data is encrypted end-to-end during transmission to the cloud, ensuring your information is secure.

  9. How much does it cost to use the LockStop device?

    • It costs $1 to activate the device and $0.05 per minute thereafter.

  10. Will there be subscription options available?

    • Yes, future development will include subscription options for repeat users.

    • You can log into your account using a friend’s device or call LockStop support for assistance in unlocking your bike.

  2. How do I log into my account on a friend’s device?

    • Download the LockStop app on your friend’s device, log in with your phone number, and enter the OTP sent to your number.

  3. How do I contact LockStop support if I need assistance?

    • You can contact LockStop support through the app or by calling the LockStop support number listed in your account.

  4. Can I unlock my bike if the LockStop device’s battery dies?

    • If the LockStop device’s battery dies while your bike is locked, you must call LockStop support for assistance.

  5. How often does the LockStop device need to be charged?

    • The LockStop device is powered by internal lithium-ion batteries that last for about two months before needing a recharge.

  6. What happens if the LockStop device has a low battery while I’m using it?

    • If the battery is lower than 5%, the device turns red and will not allow for activation. Contact support if you encounter this issue.

  7. What should I do if the LockStop device won’t unlock?

    • Try scanning the QR code again. If the device still won’t unlock, contact LockStop support for assistance.

Device Features and Specs

    • The LockStop chain is made of 3/8" hardened steel, providing robust security for your bike.

  • How long is the LockStop chain?

    • The chain is 5 feet long, allowing you to secure both the frame and wheel of your bike.

  • How is the LockStop chain attached to the device?

    • The chain is semi-permanently secured to the device with a steel rod, which cannot be removed unless the device is uninstalled from the rack.

  • Is the LockStop device weatherproof?

    • Yes, the LockStop device is weatherproof. Internal components are also sprayed with silicone for additional weather resistance.

  • How is the LockStop device mounted to a bike rack?

    • The device is secured to the bike rack using a patent-pending aluminum mounting bracket with proprietary bolt patterns.

  • Can the LockStop device be removed from the bike rack by anyone?

    • No, the LockStop device is securely attached using proprietary bolting, making unauthorized removal difficult.

  • How is the device serviced or maintained?

    • The device is serviced by removing the rear panel using a proprietary driver, extracting the cassette, and replacing or maintaining the necessary components.

  • What does the tamper detection system do, and how does it work?

    • The tamper detection system detects specific frequencies and decibels, beeping three times as a warning before sounding a 10-second alarm.

  • Can I disable the tamper detection system on my device?

    • The tamper detection system is managed remotely by LockStop and cannot be disabled by users.

  • What happens if the tamper detection system is triggered?

    • If triggered, the system sends an alert to the cloud and triggers a text alert to the user.

  • How do I know if my device’s tamper detection system is working correctly?

    • The tamper detection system is monitored remotely by LockStop. If there are any issues, LockStop will notify you or take corrective action.

Bike Registry and QR Code Sticker

  1. How do I register my bike with a QR code sticker?

    • Place the QR code sticker in a discreet location on your bike, scan it using the camera in the LockStop app, and fill in the requested bike information.

  2. Where should I place the QR code sticker on my bike?

    • The QR code sticker should be placed in a discreet but accessible location on your bike, such as under the frame or near the bottom bracket.

  3. What happens if someone else scans my bike’s QR code?

    • If someone scans your bike’s QR code, they will be directed to the LockStop Recovery Site to provide information for bike recovery. This information is then transmitted to local authorities and you.

  4. How do I update my bike information in the LockStop Bike Registry?

    • You can update your bike information directly in the LockStop app by accessing your profile and editing the bike details.

  5. What do I do if my bike is stolen and the QR code sticker is on it? (Future)

    • Report the theft through the LockStop app or website, and the QR code will be flagged in the LockStop Recovery Registry, with information sent to local authorities.

  6. How is the recovery information sent to local authorities? (Future)

    • The LockStop system automatically transmits recovery information to local authorities once a bike is reported stolen and the QR code is scanned.

  7. Can I register multiple bikes using the QR code stickers?

    • Yes, you can register multiple bikes using different QR code stickers for each bike.

  8. What happens if my QR code sticker gets damaged or removed?

    • If your QR code sticker gets damaged or removed, you can request a new sticker from LockStop and update your bike registration with the new code.
